That girl is Posen
Is Zac Posen broke? Or does he have a gambling addiction? A few months ago I found out he was starting Bespoke at Saks and today he is having a Posen party in Manhattan to sell his Target Go International summer line. Price points: a black tuxedo jacket ($49.99) and pants ($34.99), a brocade tie dress ($74.99) and a gown ($69.99). The whole collection’s going to be available online...

All Saints = Fasign
I finally went on vacation a week ago and hit up M-I-A-M-I. I finally went shopping for the first time in like, 4 months! One of the consequences of being house poor is that you end up sacrificing your attention to personal attire and appearance. I was like “Friends” at 6pm every weekday on Omni: a walking rerun. Anyway, first day there, we hit up Lincoln Street and made it...

Mourning Mcqueen
I am indefinitely handcuffed to work recently and haven’t been my usual blogging self. But I had to stop and write about the loss of Alexander Mcqueen and pay tribute. He was brilliant. I especially love-loved this RTW Spring 2010 collection. WHY.

Lu Lu Lemon - the power of 3's
Happy New Year! I took a bit of a break from everything and let myself eat, sleep, drink, and be merry. But now its 2010 and time to reignite ambitions and reinstate my fashion observations. I shopped this holiday! woohoo! Its been awhile since I’ve let myself spend money on clothes; meaning I’ve avoided all retail stores and malls to avoid all retail temptation. This holiday...

de la Renta makes me not want to pay my renta...
..and instead spend it on an Oscar glove, or sock, or maybe even a scarf. I love love love Oscar de la Renta. Here’s a few looks from his Russian-fairy tale inspired Pre-fall 2010 line. I don’t really see russian fairy tale - more siesta or flamenco dancer. But regardless of where the inspiration comes - Oscar’s creations are always just so damn pretty!! Like, I could hide...

Dior Femme
Dior Homme is launching a line of jeans for women in the Spring. They’re modeled after the male line but given feminine touches to fit a woman’s body. Such as adding spandex into the fabric mix to hug yo curves. Another brand of jeans to choose from! whoopdeedoo! Is it just me or is jean selection akin to toilet paper selection at the grocery store? There are  a million choices but...

2010 - the year of shoulders
I’ve been seeing a lot of structured shoulders in the collections for 2010. I don’t know how i feel about them. Big shoulders are like the anti-thesis of the skinny jean. The formula is straightforward: you shouldn’t wear skinny jeans if you don’t have skinny legs but the opposite applies for shoulder pads. You shouldn’t wear them if you already have big shoulders....

Art of the trench
www.artofthetrench.com I think this site is effin genius. I love Scott Schuman’s sartorialist photo blog, because you are able to see clothes in-situation and how an individual’s creativity translates into their own personal style. I’ve always thought there was a major appeal to seeing clothes presented in situation, and have often wondered why designers don’t choose to...

Leifsdottir available in T dotter
Here’s something to look forward to for my fellow Canadians - the launch of Urban Outfitter’s Leifsdottir. Its a vintage inspired line that will be available at Holt’s next spring! What’s great is that it doesn’t alienate most consumers because its at an affordable price point (think, low to mid $200’s). I like the white poofy blouse but I couldn’t wear...

I want to be a G.
Delicious. The great grandsons of Guccio Gucci, (Alessandro and another Guccio) are launching their own line of handbags - To be a G. Is anyone else hearing the lyrics to Tupac’s  “life goes on” in your head? Anyway, I would love to know what its like to be a G, if it means I get to carry around one of these sacks. The handbags are expected to retail at 550 to 900 euros, or...

Off key
Trust me, I love Alicia Keys. The piano/ballad combo gets me every time. And she has that energy that makes you want to join hands with other women and burn your bras. But I don’t know how I feel about her new jewelry collection. Its called, “The Barber’s Daughter” and was founded with jewelry designer, Gisèle Theriault. (shout out cause she’s from Cape Breton,...

Z has spoken
Zac Posen launched a sportswear line called “Z Spoke” set to launch at Saks. The price ranges from $78 for a t-shirt to $675 for a knit dress. Me likey the grey dress. But me most likely to afford the t-shirt only. At least it costs nothing to stalk and pine.

Sssseriously?
So apparently, Hollywood’s hottest couple, Brad and Angelina have launched their own jewlery designs with Asprey. They’re serpent themed and the line is called, “The Protector” because apparently Angie got a snake ring when she was preggers with Shiloh and since then she associates the snake with protection. The silver spoon is actually a baby feeding spoon. C’est...

This ain't no Value Village
I have had my fair share of purchases from Value Village, the Salvation Army, and Goodwill during a brief but intense, ‘buy nothing but vintage’ phase. I remember rifling through racks of clothes with visible stains on them, still smelling of moth balls, and t-shirts stretched into trapezoids. But you live for the thrill of finding the diamond in the rough - for me that was a $5...

Surround Sound
I  listen to my ipod mostly when I run, so i have these little ear phones that suction into my ear cavities and block out all traffic/sirens/ambient noise. I have this weird pet peeve while I run - I don’t like to hear myself breathe. So all respiratory noises are blocked as well. There is a logic - when I run, I sound so haggard that I end up thinking I’m more tired than I really am...

Happy 35th Kitty
Hello Kitty celebrated her 35th Birthday a few days ago on November 1. To celebrate, Sanrio partnered with Dr. Romanelli to create this “Anatomy Vintage” figurine. As you can see, Hello Kitty isn’t full of your regular organs. Upon closer inspection, she indeed has a heart but looks to have swallowed two baby hello kitties, a white oven mitt and a sad green balloon that are...

Return of the docs
My mother has kept a pair of my doc martens in her hall closet for the past 13 years because she couldn’t bear to throw them away, given she had paid almost $200 on them. I remember, during our “Back to School” shopping trip pre-sophomore year, I HAD to have them. Like a burning desire, where nothing else mattered and that their presence or absence from my wardrobe basically...

Oh yah, I DID get to see Dead Man’s Bones!! One of my lovely co-workers, Saima, read my Tumblr post and had a friend who had extra tickets! So she graciously offered me an invite!! The venue was at the Opera...

I love America Ferrera. I love Ugly Betty. I love that Patricia Field styles Betty Suarez in Marc Jacobs, Viktor & Rolf, and Alexandar Mcqueen to come up with these ecletic, lovingly awkward, and completely engrossing creations. I love this outfit - it makes me giddy, impatient, wired and speechless. It makes me want to eat cupcakes and ride unicorns. This picture is Christmas morning. It...

J'adore Garance Dore
Garance Dore is my new favourite street style blogger. Her photographs embody romance, beauty, feminity, and power in this urban chic way that only the French know how to do. These images are taken from her blog at: http://www.garancedore.fr/en/ Anyway, the reason i pulled these shots specifically is that I’m going in for a hair chop tomorrow and I’m debating on getting a fringe....

Top tops from Top Shop
The first time I went to London, was 4 years ago to visit my best friend, Nancy, who had moved there after our last year of uni so she could attend Law School at SOAS. I immediately fell in love with London. I loved the architecture, the idioms that came out of Nancy’s classmates’ mouths, their accompanying accents, the city’s energy, the double decker buses, Walker Crisps (Sweet Thai Chili) and...

Hip on the Nippon
I miss Japan. I spent over 4 years there in my formative years ridden with adolescent angst. I moved to Tokyo after finishing 8th grade in Chatham, Ontario. My fashion bible at the time was the movie, Clueless. My wardrobe mimicked Cher’s - thigh high stockings, black patent Mary Janes, mini backpacks and plaid skirts. Oh the shame! When I got to Tokyo, my classmates had purple hair,...

Par for the course
Hit the driving range this morning and it was so frickin cold. My dad lent me a pair of his forest green wind breaker pants that ballooned from the wind and gave me blimpy legs. I looked like a parade float. It takes very little for my golf game to shred my dignity. Stella knows this. So Stella McCartney designs golf clothes for Adidas, so that I can at least feel fashionable going in to the...

Mix and Match 2
Here’s what I would have worn today if I was a trust fund baby. And yes, I too once thought over-the-knee boots were solely hooker attire - but these have flat soles, and they’re like pants and shoes in one, so one extra decision can be taken out of the “what do i wear” equation. Leather jackets: Right - Mike & Chris Rupert Leather Double Breasted Hooded Jacket in...

Feet cred
I was on LookBook, sneaking a peek at the various fashionistas and their ensembles and couldn’t help noticing a recurring theme. They all pose with their feet turned inward. Like the feet are facing eachother and having a conversation…or its like one is checking to make sure the other foot is wearing the matching shoe. I’m curious as to whether there is this secret society with...

I spent my whole morning and a good part of the early afternoon taking a few business and finance related classes to help fulfill my “knowledge is power’ ambition. After class I promptly went and spent my...

Drop Toms not Bombs
A few months ago I discovered Toms Shoes. I’m partial to this Burlap Woven design. Something about wearing potato/rice sacks on my feet that gives me the giddy. Anyway, the whole idea behind Toms Shoes is that they donate one pair of shoes to a child in need in a developing country for every one pair of shoes you purchase. The idea is solid - in that its not a non-profit organization so...

Five Fleur de Lis
I’m not a huge jewellry fan, but I love these necklaces by pyrrha. They’re basically seals stamped into silve/bronze/gold. This one is called the Five Fleur de Lis Crest and has a motto that reads “Virtus sibi premium” meaning “Virtue is it’s own reward”. I want!
