Happy New Year! I took a bit of a break from everything and let myself eat, sleep, drink, and be merry. But now its 2010 and time to reignite ambitions and reinstate my fashion observations.
I shopped this holiday! woohoo! Its been awhile since I’ve let myself spend money on clothes; meaning I’ve avoided all retail stores and malls to avoid all retail temptation. This holiday season, I’ve discovered some new favorites: hudson jeans, jcrew cardigans, and lulu lemon running gear…
What the what? I had no idea that Lulu lemon even launched a running line!! I hardly go into their store and instead usually opt for Winners to find anything fitness related (you can get Nike and Adidas at 50% of the retail price at Winny’s!).
Anyway, I was visiting the fam, and actually walked into a Triple L in London Ontario. My initial impression was that I just wanted to get the eff out because the sales girl was completely self absorbed - trying on all of the new merchandise, yakking away with her co-worker, blocking all access to the clothes. (note to Masonville - hire some new staff at Lulu) BUT, I caught the tail end of her rant about how she totally deserved a LuLu windbreaker now that she was a runner after doing the 5k Santa Shuffle. Snort (I am a running snob) At the sound of “run”, my ears perked, my head turned, and there they were - Lulu running jackets and thermal tops. Bright, cheery, JUST lovely.
It makes complete sense that Lulu is tapping the runner’s market because women RUN! From yoga and pilates to running. Triple Threat indeed. I want a LLL wind breaker - mine is black and bleak and unacceptable.
Running makes me unbelievably happy. So I’ve registered for another half marathon (March 7) and have been running with my neighbourhood Running Room group on Sunday mornings. It was brutal this morning: 12km at 8:30am,-25 with the windchill, flurries, and grey skies. But when life hands you lululemons, you go running!
